For Brokers
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Division of Real Estate has implemented new education requirements to reflect recent changes to the Illinois Real Estate License Act of 2000. The 2026 Broker Renewal deadline is April 30, 2026. The 6-hour Core course, which includes at least 2 hours of fair housing training, must be completed to satisfy the Core requirement for this renewal.
For Managing Brokers
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Division of Real Estate has implemented new education requirements to reflect recent changes to the Illinois Real Estate License Act of 2000. The 2025 Managing Broker Renewal deadline is April 30, 2025. The Illinois 4-hour Core Course must be completed by April 30, 2025. Subsequent renewals will require a 6-hour Core course, which includes at least 2 hours of fair housing training
Broker Continuing Education and License Renewal Date:
4/30 every even-numbered year
Broker Hours Required by The State:
12 hours
- 4 Mandatory Core Hours
- 8 Elective Hours
- Includes a 1-hour IDFPR-mandated Sexual Harassment Prevention Training requirement, which went into effect on 1/1/2020.
Managing Broker Continuing Education and License Renewal Date:
4/30 every odd-numbered year
Managing Broker Hours Required by The State:
24 hours
- 4 Mandatory Core Hours
- 8 Elective Hours
- Mandatory 12-hour Broker Management Course
- Includes a 1-hour IDFPR-mandated Sexual Harassment Prevention Training requirement, which went into effect on 1/1/2020.
